TASS floor slab

With ever increasing building costs, the requirement for rapid construction and greater awareness of energy conservation is an important aspect of building design. Expanded polystyrene or EPS and other products are becoming increasingly used in modern day construction.

The TASS slab system is a coffer slab that uses EPS as permanent forms. The properties of EPS provide thermal and sound insulation, accuracy in moulding and being lightweight results in an extremely cost competitiveness insulating product.

EPS

TASS is a combination of moulded EPS blocks and cold rolled steel channels that form a and coffer slab system for multi storey buildings. The system comprises a priority high strength galvanised steel rib which supports the high density TASS EPS void formers.

The system is completed by the placement of reinforcing bars in the channels, between the TASS blocks in both directions, reinforcing mesh above the blocks and concrete to fill the channels, encapsulating the rebar and mesh to form the reinforced concrete structure of the floor slab.

EPS

The beams which are formed by the concrete and rebar in the gaps between the TASS blocks create a two way spanning monolithic structure, which is very effective when dealing with complex designs.

The TASS void formers are left in place and act as both thermal and sound insulation.
